Gravitational instability and spatial regularity of the gas clouds and young stellar population in spiral arms of NGC 628
V. S. Kostiuk, A. S. Gusev, A. A. Marchuk +1
Context. There is a contradiction between the characteristic spacings in observed regular chains of star-forming regions in the spiral arms of galaxies, ~500 pc, and the estimates…
On the nature of spiral arms in the interacting galaxy M51
F. K. Sakhibov, V. S. Kostiuk, A. S. Gusev +1
In this study, we investigated the radial variation of the azimuthal propagation of star formation across the spiral arms in the nearby galaxy NGC 5194 (M51a) by analysing the spat…
Accurate Decomposition of Galaxies with Spiral Arms: Dust Properties and Distribution
A. A. Marchuk, I. V. Chugunov, F. Galliano +8
We analyze three nearby spiral galaxies - NGC 1097, NGC 1566, and NGC 3627 - using images from the DustPedia database in seven infrared bands (3.6, 8, 24, 70, 100, 160, and 250 mic…
A Comprehensive Analysis on the Nature of the Spiral Arms in NGC 3686, NGC 4321, and NGC 2403
V. Kostiuk, A. Marchuk, A. Gusev +1
In theoretical investigations, various mechanisms have been put forward to explain the emergence of spiral patterns in galaxies. One of the few ways to find out the nature of spira…
