Demonstration of a simple and compact ytterbium magneto-optical trap
Benjamin White, Rachel F. Offer, Ashby P. Hilton +5
We present a low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP), low-complexity, ytterbium magneto-optical trap (MOT). We demonstrate trapping of Yb atoms on the $|{^1S_0}…
Tailoring the Stability of a Two-Color, Two-Photon Rubidium Frequency Standard
Emily J. Ahern, Sarah K. Scholten, Clayton Locke +4
Rubidium two-photon frequency standards are emerging as powerful contenders for compact, durable devices with exceptional stability. The field has focused on single-color excitatio…
The SWaP plot: Visualising the performance of portable atomic clocks as a function of their size, weight and power
Benjamin White, Rachel Offer, Ashby Hilton +1
Precision timekeeping is fundamental to modern technologies such as Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), communication networks, financial transactions, and power grid manag…
Demonstration of a Mobile Optical Clock Ensemble at Sea
A. P. Hilton, R. F. Offer, E. Klantsataya +14
Atomic clocks are at the leading edge of accuracy and precision and are essential for synchronization of distributed critical infrastructure, position, navigation and timing, and s…
