Rings in the Sky: Orbital Data Centres and Potential Impacts to Astronomy and the Sky
Aaron C. Boley, Samantha M. Lawler, Hanno Rein
Megaconstellations of orbital data centres (ODCs) have the potential to fundamentally change the sky without a concerted mitigation effort. Potential changes include producing larg…
An Orbital House of Cards: Frequent Satellite Close Conjunctions
Sarah Thiele, Skye R. Heiland, Aaron C. Boley +1
The number of objects in orbit is rapidly increasing, primarily driven by the launch of megaconstellations, an approach to satellite constellation design that involves large number…
OrbDot: A Python package for studying the secular evolution of exoplanet orbits
Simone R. Hagey, Aaron Boley
OrbDot is a Python package for studying the secular (long-term) evolution of exoplanet orbits from observational data. It employs nested sampling algorithms to fit evolutionary mod…
Call to Protect the Dark and Quiet Sky from Harmful Interference by Satellite Constellations
IAU Centre for the Protection of the Dark, Quiet Sky from Satellite Constellation Interference, Gyula I. G. Józsa +40
The growing number of satellite constellations in low Earth orbit (LEO) enhances global communications and Earth observation, and support of space commerce is a high priority of ma…
