Ioannis Panitsas, Tolga O. Atalay, Dragoslav Stojadinovic +2
The disaggregated, cloud-native design of the 5G Core (5GC) enables flexibility and scalability but introduces significant challenges. Control-plane procedures involve complex inte…
SlicePilot: Demystifying Network Slice Placement in Heterogeneous Cloud Infrastructures
Ioannis Panitsas, Tolga O. Atalay, Dragoslav Stojadinovic +2
Cellular networks are comprised of software-based entities, with main functions encapsulated as Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) deployed on Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardwar…
5G-WAVE: A Core Network Framework with Decentralized Authorization for Network Slices
Pragya Sharma, Tolga Atalay, Hans-Andrew Gibbs +3
5G mobile networks leverage Network Function Virtualization (NFV) to offer services in the form of network slices. Each network slice is a logically isolated fragment constructed b…
A First Look at 5G Core Deployments on Public Cloud: Performance Evaluation of Control and User Planes
Tolga O. Atalay, Dragoslav Stojadinovic, Alireza Famili +2
The Fifth Generation (5G) mobile core network is designed as a set of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) hosted on Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware. This creates a growing de…
