First large scale spatial and velocity patterns of local metal-rich stars in the Milky Way
Georges Kordopatis, Diane Feuillet, Christian Lehmann +4
(Abridged) The present-day spatial and kinematic distribution of stars in the Milky Way provides key constraints on its internal dynamics and evolutionary history. We select stars…
Disentangling Milky Way halo populations at low metallicities using [Al/Fe]
H. Ernandes, Á. Skúladóttir, S. Feltzing +1
Differentiating between in-situ and accreted populations in the Milky Way halo is a challenging task. Various kinematic spaces are often used to identify distinct accreted populati…
Evidence of Gaia Enceladus experiencing at least two passages around the Milky Way
Ása Skúladóttir, Heitor Ernandes, Diane K. Feuillet +4
One of the major recent breakthroughs has been the discovery of the last Major Merger to happen in the history of the Milky Way. Around 10 Gyr ago the galaxy Gaia Enceladus, with e…
Gaia-Sausage-Enceladus star formation history as revealed by detailed elemental abundances
H. Ernandes, D. Feuillet, S. Feltzing +1
The Gaia-Sausage-Enceladus was the last major merger and central turning point in the Milky Way's story. This event, comparable in mass to the Large Magellanic Cloud today, left be…
