Comparison of wave-mixing processes in rarefied gas and QED vacuum using numerical simulations
Marianna Lytova, François Fillion-Gourdeau, Simon Vallières +3
We study the conditions required to distinguish laser-induced nonlinear quantum electrodynamics (QED) effects in vacuum from competing signals due to interactions of laser pulses w…
Relativistic electrons from vacuum laser acceleration using tightly focused radially polarized beams
Jeffrey Powell, Spencer W. Jolly, Simon Vallières +7
We generate a tabletop pulsed relativistic electron beam at 100 Hz repetition rate from vacuum laser acceleration (VLA) by tightly focusing a radially polarized beam into a low-den…
Scattered field formalism in the particle-in-cell method for plasma acceleration in tightly focused ultrashort laser beams
M. Lytova, F. Fillion-Gourdeau, S. Vallières +2
The scattered field formalism is combined to the particle-in-cell method to model relativistic laser-plasma dynamics in complex field configurations. Despite the strong nonlinearit…
High Dose-Rate Ionizing Radiation Source from Tight Focusing in Air of a mJ-class Femtosecond Laser
S. Vallières, J. Powell, T. Connell +7
Ultrashort electron beams with femtosecond to picosecond bunch durations offer unique opportunities to explore active research areas ranging from ultrafast structural dynamics to u…
