Probing cold gas and dust in quiescent galaxies across cosmic time
Anita Zanella, Sirio Belli, Belen Alcalde Pampliega +35
The discovery of massive quiescent galaxies at high redshift by JWST has revealed that star formation can cease rapidly in the early Universe, yet the physical mechanisms responsib…
The dawn of the first galaxies
Livia Vallini, Tanio Diaz Santos, Belen Alcalde Pampliega +56
Understanding how the first galaxies assembled their stellar mass at cosmic dawn is a central frontier of modern astrophysics. JWST has now revealed an unexpected population of ult…
ALMA2040: Understanding the Early Assembly of Galaxies - The Formation of Star-Forming Clumps and their Role in Shaping Galaxy Evolution
Anita Zanella, Andreas L. Faisst, Rodrigo Herrera-Camus +25
Astrophysics seeks to explain how galaxies form and evolve through the interplay of stars, gas, and dust. Giant molecular clouds (GMCs), the main reservoirs and sites of star forma…
The ALPINE-CRISTAL-JWST Survey: Chemical Abundance Comparison Between the ISM and CGM of Main-Sequence Galaxies at z=4-6
Wuji Wang, Andreas L. Faisst, Kyle Finner +37
Gaseous halos around galaxies play an important role in galaxy evolution. The exchange of metals from the interstellar medium (ISM) to the circumgalactic medium (CGM) are caused by…
