Generalization of the catenary in the dual plane
Muhittin Evren Aydin, Rafael López
In this paper, we study a dual analogue of the classical catenary within the class of admissible curves in the dual plane . We introduce -catenaries in $\mathbb{D}…
Extension of a problem of Euler in and in
Muhittin Evren Aydin, Antonio Bueno, Rafael López
In this paper, we extend the notion of stationary curves with respect to the moment of inertia from a point in the Euclidean plane to the case that the ambient s…
Capillary liquid channels in cylindrical support surfaces: stability and bifurcation
Rafael López
Planes and circular cylinders are models of interfaces of a fluid when the support surface is translationally invariant in a direction of the space. After a study of the eigenvalue…
Axially Symmetric Helfrich Spheres
Rafael López, Bennett Palmer, Álvaro Pámpano
Smooth axially symmetric Helfrich topological spheres are either round or else they must satisfy a second order equation known as the reduced membrane equation [17]. In this paper,…
The hanging chain problem with respect to a circle
Rafael López
Let $\s^1$ be a circle in Euclidean plane. We consider the problem of finding the shape of a planar curve which is an extremal of the potential energy that measures the distance to…
