Observing and evading quantum back-action on a kilogram-scale oscillator
Begüm Kabagöz, Eric Oelker, Dhruva Ganapathy +203
Continuous quantum displacement measurements are fundamentally limited by a trade-off between readout imprecision and measurement back-action, constrained by the Heisenberg uncerta…
LIGO Detector Characterization in the Second and Third Parts of the Fourth Observing Run
J. Glanzer, A. F. Helmling-Cornell, A. Calafat +244
LIGO detector characterization efforts enabled the confident detection of gravitational waves from hundreds of compact binary coalescences during the fourth observing run. Reliable…
Narrow spectral artifact investigation and mitigation in LIGO data from the fourth LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA observing run
E. Goetz, A. Neunzert, A. M. Knee +258
We present efforts to identify, characterize, and mitigate narrow spectral artifacts in LIGO detector data during the fourth LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA observing run. Narrow spectral artifac…
Scattered light noise at LIGO Livingston Observatory during O4
Debasmita Nandi, Anamaria Effler, Siddharth Soni +6
Scattered light is one of the most common sources of noise in the LIGO gravitational wave detectors. Light scattering is a highly non-linear process through which motion at low fre…
