Polarization Diagnostics Applied to Coronal Mass Ejections and the Background Solar Wind
Sarah E Gibson, Craig E. DeForest, Curt A. de Koning +6
The ratio of radially to tangentially polarized Thomson-scattered white light provides a powerful tool for locating the 3D position of compact structures in the solar corona and in…
Why do solar wind models get it wrong: understanding the capabilities of time-dependent solar wind simulations
Evangelia Samara, Elena Provornikova, C. Nick Arge +2
We explore the capabilities of time-dependent (TD) magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) solar wind simulations with the coupled WSA model of the solar corona and GAMERA model of the inner he…
Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere (PUNCH)
Craig E. DeForest, Sarah E. Gibson, Ronnie Killough +74
The Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere (PUNCH) mission is a NASA Small Explorer to determine the cross-scale processes that unify the solar corona and heliosphere. PUN…
SuNeRF-CME: Physics-Informed Neural Radiance Fields for Tomographic Reconstruction of Coronal Mass Ejections
Robert Jarolim, Martin Sanner, Chia-Man Hung +8
Coronagraphic observations enable direct monitoring of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) through scattered light from free electrons, but determining the 3D plasma distribution from 2D…
