A self-consistent 3D MHD model producing a solar blowout jet
Yajie Chen, Hardi Peter, Damien Przybylski +2
Context. Solar blowout jets are a distinct subclass of ubiquitous extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) and X-ray coronal jets. Aims. Most existing models of blowout jets prescribe an initial…
Simulations of structured upflows from plumes and their connection to the solar wind
Kamlesh Bora, Lakshmi Pradeep Chitta, Yajie Chen +3
Small-scale transient jetlet activity and associated upflows from coronal hole plumes are potential sources of the solar wind. To elucidate the magnetic origins and driving mechani…
Magnetic reconnection sustains the mass budget of the solar wind
Yajie Chen, Hardi Peter, Damien Przybylski +2
The solar wind originates from regions of open magnetic fields on the Sun, but the relevant processes remain unsolved. We present a self-consistent numerical model of the source re…
Three dimensional magnetic reconnection mediated with plasmoids and the resulted multi-thermal emissions in the cool atmosphere of the Sun
Guanchong Cheng, Lei Ni, Robert Cameron +3
Flux emergence is ubiquitous in the Sun's lower atmosphere, where the emerging magnetic flux can reconnect with the pre-existing magnetic field. We investigate plasmoid formation a…
