Asymmetries in stellar streams induced by a galactic merger
Claire Guillaume, Florent Renaud, Nicolas F. Martin +6
Stellar streams are sensitive to perturbations from, e.g., giant molecular clouds, bars and spiral arms, infalling dwarf galaxies, or globular clusters which can imprint gaps, clum…
On the metal-poor edge of the Milky Way "thin disc"
Emma Fernández-Alvar, Georges Kordopatis, Vanessa Hill +9
The emergence of the disc in our Galaxy and the relation of the thick and thin disc formation and evolution is still a matter of debate. The chemo-dynamical characterization of dis…
Charting the Galactic acceleration field II. A global mass model of the Milky Way from the STREAMFINDER Atlas of Stellar Streams detected in Gaia DR3
Rodrigo Ibata, Khyati Malhan, Wassim Tenachi +17
We present an atlas and follow-up spectroscopic observations of 87 thin stream-like structures detected with the STREAMFINDER algorithm in Gaia DR3, of which 29 are new discoveries…
Exploring the impact of a rapidly decelerating bar on transforming bulge orbits into disc-like orbits
Chengdong Li, Zhen Yuan, Giacomo Monari +7
The most metal-poor tail of the Milky Way ([Fe/H] 2.5) contains a population of stars with very prograde planar orbits, which is puzzling in both their origin and evoluti…
