Connecting galaxies with their haloes -- from parsec to Mpc scales
K. Fahrion, J. van de Sande, K. R. Akhil +12
Galaxy evolution is driven by processes occurring across a wide range of scales, from star formation within giant molecular clouds (parsec scales) to outflows and secular evolution…
Probing the resolved K-S relation in nearby galaxies: Insights from UVIT and ALMA observations
K Sruthi, Sreeja S Kartha, Blesson Mathew +3
This study examines the resolved Kennicutt Schmidt (rKS) relation, defined as the connection between the star formation rate surface density (Sigma SFR) and the molecular gas mass…
Deciphering the properties of UV upturn galaxies in the Virgo cluster
Krishna R. Akhil, Sreeja S Kartha, Namitha Kizhuprakkat +2
The UV upturn refers to the increase in UV flux at wavelengths shorter than 3000 Å observed in quiescent early-type galaxies (ETGs), which still remains a puzzle. In this study, we…
DES J024008.08-551047.5:A new member of the polar ring galaxy family
Krishna R. Akhil, Sreeja S Kartha, Blesson Mathew +3
During the visual observations of optical imaging data obtained from the DECaLS, a serendipitous discovery emerged, revealing the presence of a ringed galaxy, DES J024008.08-551047…
