High-Capacity Urban Terrestrial Free-Space Optical Communication Links at km-Scale
Vincent van Vliet, Menno van den Hout, Eduward Tangdiongga +1
Free-space optical communication links can enable high-capacity wireless connectivity in urban areas. We discuss the feasibility, challenges, and recent developments for high-capac…
Coherent Free-Space Optical Communications with Concurrent Turbulence Characterization in a Terrestrial Urban Link
Vincent van Vliet, Menno van den Hout, Kadir Gümüş +2
We present a 19-day joint measurement of optical turbulence and coherent data communications over a 4.6 km urban FSO link, providing empirical insights into turbulence effects on t…
Experimental Investigation of Availability in a 4.6 km Terrestrial Urban Coherent Free-Space Optical Communications Link
Vincent van Vliet, Menno van den Hout, Kadir Gümüş +2
We measured the outage probability of a 4.6-km urban free-space optical communication link over six days. High-speed power measurements reveal slow and fast fading effects, with li…
5.7 Tb/s Transmission Over a 4.6 km Field-Deployed Free-Space Optical Link in Urban Environment
Vincent van Vliet, Menno van den Hout, Kadir Gümüş +2
We transmitted 5.7 Tb/s over a 4.6 km free-space optical link in an urban environment, spanning the city of Eindhoven, the Netherlands, using a 1.1 THz wide wavelength-division mul…
