Temporal variability of polarization in blazars
Filippo Bolis, Emanuele Sobacchi, Fabrizio Tavecchio
We investigate the temporal variability of polarization of synchrotron radiation from blazar jets. Multiwavelength observations revealed high-amplitude rotations of the electric ve…
Do multifrequency polarimetric observations of BL Lac rule out a hadronic origin for its X-ray emission?
F. Tavecchio, F. Bolis, E. Sobacchi +2
Recent multifrequency polarimetric observations of the eponymous blazar BL Lac reveal an extremely large degree of polarization in the optical band (average of , reaching $45…
Polarization of synchrotron radiation from blazar jets
Filippo Bolis, Emanuele Sobacchi, Fabrizio Tavecchio
Supermassive black holes in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) launch relativistic jets that shine through the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Blazars are a subclass of AGN where non-t…
Multifrequency polarimetry of High-Synchrotron Peaked blazars probes the shape of their jets
F. Bolis, E. Sobacchi, F. Tavecchio
Multifrequency polarimetry is emerging as a powerful probe of blazar jets, especially due to the advent of the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) space observatory. We study…
