Seeding the Formation of Mercurys: An Iron-sensitive Bouncing Barrier in Disk Magnetic Fields
Maximilian Kruss, Gerhard Wurm
The inner part of protoplanetary disks can be threaded by strong magnetic fields. In laboratory levitation experiments, we study how magnetic fields up to 7 mT influence the aggreg…
Constraints on Compound Chondrule Formation from Laboratory High-Temperature Collisions
Tabea Bogdan, Jens Teiser, Nikolai Fischer +2
In laboratory experiments, spherical 1 mm-wide glass and basalt particles are heated, and the hot particles collide at about 1m/s with a flat glass target that is at room temperatu…
Selective Aggregation Experiments on Planetesimal Formation and Mercury-Like Planets
Gerhard Wurm
Much of a planet's composition could be determined right at the onset of formation. Laboratory experiments can constrain these early steps. This includes static tensile strength me…
Saltation under Martian Gravity and its Influence on the Global Dust Distribution
Grzegorz Musiolik, Maximilian Kruss, Tunahan Demirci +6
Dust and sand motion are a common sight on Mars. Understanding the interaction of atmosphere and Martian soil is fundamental to describe the planet's weather, climate and surface m…
