High-Latitude Zonal Jets in the Martian Upper Atmosphere Driven by Non-Orographic Gravity Waves
Jiandong Liu, François Forget, Ehouarn Millour +2
We investigate thermosphere responses to non-orographic gravity waves (GWs) using wind measurements from the Neutral Gas and Ion Mass Spectrometer onboard the Mars Atmosphere and V…
A Stochastic Parameterization of Non-Orographic Gravity Waves Induced Mixing for Mars Planetary Climate Model
Jiandong Liu, Ehouarn Millour, François Forget +2
This paper presents a formalism of mixing induced by non-orographic gravity waves (GWs) to integrate with the stochastic GWs scheme in the Mars Planetary Climate Model. We derive t…
Diurnal temperature variations and migrating thermal tides in the Martian lower atmosphere observed by the Emirates Mars InfraRed Spectrometer
Siteng Fan, François Forget, Michael D. Smith +12
The Martian atmosphere experiences large diurnal variations due to the ~24.6 h planetary rotation and its low heat capacity. Understanding such variations on a planetary scale is l…
Migrating Thermal Tides in the Martian Atmosphere during Aphelion Season Observed by EMM/EMIRS
Siteng Fan, François Forget, Michael D. Smith +11
Temperature profiles retrieved using the first set of data of the Emirates Mars InfraRed Spectrometer (EMIRS) obtained during the science phase of the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) a…
