Habitat of early life: Solar X-ray and UV radiation at Earth's surface 4-3.5 billion years ago
I. Cnossen, J. Sanz-Forcada, F. Favata +3
Solar X-ray and UV radiation (0.1-320 nm) received at Earth's surface is an important aspect of the circumstances under which life formed on Earth. The quantity that is received de…
A compact flare eclipsed in the corona of SV Cam
J. Sanz-Forcada, F. Favata, G. Micela
The eclipsing active binary SV Cam (G0V/K6V, P_0.593071 d) was observed with XMM-Newton during two campaigns in 2001 and 2003. No eclipses in the quiescent emission are clearly ide…
XMM-Newton observations of the sigma Ori cluster. I. The complex RGS spectrum of the hot star sigma Ori AB
J. Sanz-Forcada, E. Franciosini, R. Pallavicini
We present XMM-Newton observations of the young (~2-5 Myr) cluster around the hot (O9.5V) star sigma Orionis AB, aimed at obtaining a high resolution RGS spectrum of the hot star a…
Coronal versus photospheric abundances of stars with different activity levels
J. Sanz-Forcada, F. Favata, G. Micela
We report a detailed analysis of the coronal abundance of 4 stars with varying levels of activity and with accurately known photospheric abundances. The coronal abundance is determ…
