Cold source of atomic hydrogen for loading large magnetic traps
A. Semakin, J. Ahokas, O. Hanski +8
We present a design and performance tests of an intense source of cold hydrogen atoms for loading large magnetic traps. Our source is based on a cryogenic dissociator of molecular…
GRASIAN: Shaping and characterization of the cold hydrogen and deuterium beams for the forthcoming first demonstration of gravitational quantum states of atoms
Carina Killian, Philipp Blumer, Paolo Crivelli +9
A low energy particle confined by a horizontal reflective surface and gravity settles in gravitationally bound quantum states. These gravitational quantum states (GQS) were so far…
GRASIAN: Towards the first demonstration of gravitational quantum states of atoms with a cryogenic hydrogen beam
Carina Killian, Zakary Burkley, Philipp Blumer +12
At very low energies, a light neutral particle above a horizontal surface can experience quantum reflection. The quantum reflection holds the particle against gravity and leads to…
A large octupole magnetic trap for research with atomic hydrogen
J. Ahokas, A. Semakin, J. Järvinen +12
We describe the design and performance of a large magnetic trap for storing and cooling of atomic hydrogen (H). The trap operates in the vacuum space of a dilution refrigerator at…
