Jet formation studies in AGN: a search for new targets
B. Boccardi, L. Ricci, E. Madika +6
In recent years, the jet formation region in active galaxies has been imaged through mm-VLBI in few ideal targets, first and foremost M87. An important leap forward for understandi…
Kilogauss magnetic field and jet dynamics in the quasar NRAO 530
Mikhail Lisakov, Svetlana Jorstad, Maciek Wielgus +12
The advancement of the Event Horizon Telescope has enabled the study of relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei down to sub-parsec linear scales even at high redshift. Quasi-si…
First Very Long Baseline Interferometry Detections at 870μm
Alexander W. Raymond, Sheperd S. Doeleman, Keiichi Asada +276
The first very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) detections at 870m wavelength (345GHz frequency) are reported, achieving the highest diffraction-limited angular resolutio…
Broadband Multi-wavelength Properties of M87 during the 2018 EHT Campaign including a Very High Energy Flaring Episode
J. C. Algaba, M. Balokovic, S. Chandra +738
The nearby elliptical galaxy M87 contains one of the only two supermassive black holes whose emission surrounding the event horizon has been imaged by the Event Horizon Telescope (…
