LIGHTS. A robust technique to identify galaxy edges
Giulia Golini, Ignacio Trujillo, Dennis Zaritsky +19
The LIGHTS survey is imaging galaxies at a depth and spatial resolution comparable to what the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) will produce in 10 years (i.e., 31 mag/a…
A targeted, parallax-based search for Planet Nine
Hector Socas-Navarro, Ignacio Trujillo
The hypothesized Planet Nine is thought to reside in the distant outer solar system, potentially explaining various anomalies in the orbits of extreme trans-Neptunian objects (ETNO…
UV LIGHTS. New tools for revealing the low surface brightness regime in the ultraviolet
Ignacio Ruiz Cejudo, Ignacio Trujillo, Giulia Golini +16
Ultra-deep optical surveys have reached unprecedented depths, facilitating the study of faint galactic structures. However, the ultraviolet bands, crucial for stellar population st…
Constraining the shape of dark matter haloes using only starlight. I. A new technique and its application to the galaxy Nube
Jorge Sanchez Almeida, Ignacio Trujillo, Mireia Montes +1
We present a new technique to constrain the gravitational potential of a galaxy from the observed stellar mass surface density alone under a number of assumptions. It uses the clas…
