Photon thermalization via laser cooling of atoms
Chiao-Hsuan Wang, M. J. Gullans, J. V. Porto +2
Laser cooling of atomic motion enables a wide variety of technological and scientific explorations using cold atoms. Here we focus on the effect of laser cooling on the photons ins…
Dissipation induced dipole blockade and anti-blockade in driven Rydberg systems
Jeremy T. Young, Thomas Boulier, Eric Magnan +5
We study theoretically and experimentally the competing blockade and anti-blockade effects induced by spontaneously generated contaminant Rydberg atoms in driven Rydberg systems. T…
Optimization of photon storage fidelity in ordered atomic arrays
M. T. Manzoni, M. Moreno-Cardoner, A. Asenjo-Garcia +3
A major application for atomic ensembles consists of a quantum memory for light, in which an optical state can be reversibly converted to a collective atomic excitation on demand.…
Spontaneous avalanche dephasing in large Rydberg ensembles
T. Boulier, E. Magnan, C. Bracamontes +6
Strong dipole-exchange interactions due to spontaneously produced contaminant states can trigger rapid dephasing in many-body Rydberg ensembles [E. Goldschmidt et al., PRL 116, 113…
