Air fluorescence measurements in the spectral range 300-420 nm using a 28.5 GeV electron beam
R. Abbasi, T. Abu-Zayyad, K. Belov +34
Measurements are reported of the yield and spectrum of fluorescence, excited by a 28.5 GeV electron beam, in air at a range of pressures of interest to ultra-high energy cosmic ray…
Observations of Microwave Continuum Emission from Air Shower Plasmas
P. W. Gorham, N. G. Lehtinen, G. S. Varner +16
We investigate a possible new technique for microwave measurements of ultra-high energy cosmic ray (UHECR) extensive air showers which relies on detection of expected continuum rad…
Measuring energy dependent polarization in soft gamma-rays using Compton scattering in PoGOLite
M. Axelsson, O. Engdegård, F. Ryde +23
Linear polarization in X- and gamma-rays is an important diagnostic of many astrophysical sources, foremost giving information about their geometry, magnetic fields, and radiation…
Beam Test of a Prototype Detector Array for the PoGO Astronomical Hard X-Ray/Soft Gamma-Ray Polarimeter
T. Mizuno, T. Kamae, J. S. T. Ng +6
Polarization measurements in the X-ray and gamma-ray energy range can provide crucial information on massive compact objects such as black holes and neutron stars. The Polarized Ga…
