The Influence of Dust Composition on Accretion Outbursts
Nicolas Kaufmann, Anna B. T. Penzlin, Alfie Robinson +3
Context: Episodic accretion outbursts have been shown to occur in protoplanetary discs due to thermal instability at the inner edge of the dead zone. These outbursts periodically h…
The formation of planetary systems: physics, populations, and architectures
Andrin Kessler, Jesse Weder, Jesse Polman +5
We review the progresses made in global theoretical models of planetary system formation in the last decade using the example of the planetary system formation framework known as t…
Turning the knobs on dust evolution: Comparing codes, parameters and their effects on planet formation and disc observables
Linn E. J. Eriksson, Thomas Pfeil, Nicolas Kaufmann +1
Protoplanetary discs contain a wide range of dust sizes that influence their thermal structure and planet formation processes such as planetesimal formation and pebble accretion. D…
Planet formation at the inner edge of the dead zone I. the interplay between accretion outbursts and dust growth
Alexandros Ziampras, Tilman Birnstiel, Nicolas Kaufmann +2
The inner edge of the dead zone in protoplanetary disks has been shown to periodically go unstable, leading to accretion outbursts and annular substructure within the dead zone. Wh…
