Stacked Intelligent Metasurface Performs a 2D DFT in the Wave Domain for DOA Estimation
Jiancheng An, Chau Yuen, Marco Di Renzo +3
Staked intelligent metasurface (SIM) based techniques are developed to perform two-dimensional (2D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation. In contrast to the conventional designs,…
Stacked Intelligent Metasurfaces for Multiuser Downlink Beamforming in the Wave Domain
Jiancheng An, Marco Di Renzo, Mérouane Debbah +2
Intelligent metasurface has recently emerged as a promising technology that enables the customization of wireless environments by harnessing large numbers of low-cost reconfigurabl…
On the Degrees of Freedom and Eigenfunctions of Line-of-Sight Holographic MIMO Communications
Juan Carlos Ruiz-Sicilia, Marco Di Renzo, Marco Donald Migliore +2
We consider a line-of-sight communication link between two holographic surfaces (HoloSs), and provide a closed-form expression for the effective degrees of freedom (eDoF), i.e., th…
A Tutorial on Holographic MIMO Communications--Part I: Channel Modeling and Channel Estimation
Jiancheng An, Chau Yuen, Chongwen Huang +3
By integrating a nearly infinite number of reconfigurable elements into a finite space, a spatially continuous array aperture is formed for holographic multiple-input multiple-outp…
