Star formation powers optical line emission from the CGM
Huanian Zhang, Lizhi Xie, Zhijie Qu +9
Using integral field spectroscopy, we explore the disk-halo interface, or the inner circumgalactic medium (CGM), of individual galaxies by constructing and analyzing emission-line…
Kinematics of H I and O VI Absorbers: Insights into the Turbulence Driver of the Multiphase Circumgalactic Medium
Zhijie Qu, Hsiao-Wen Chen, Eliana Schiller +2
We investigate large-scale gas kinematics in the multiphase circumgalactic medium (CGM) using the observed correlation between line width (Doppler parameter) and column density…
FEASTS Combined with Interferometry (IV): Mapping HI Emission to a limit of in Seven Edge-on Galaxies
Dong Yang, Jing Wang, Zhijie Qu +17
We present a statistical study of the neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) gas extending into the circumgalactic medium perpendicular to the disk for 7 edge-on galaxies with inclinations a…
FEASTS Combined with Interferometry (II): Significantly Changed HI Surface Densities and Even More Inefficient Star Formation in Galaxy Outer Disks
Jing Wang, Xuchen Lin, Lister Staveley-Smith +12
We update the HI surface density measurements for a subset of 17 THINGS galaxies by dealing with the short-spacing problem of the original VLA HI images. It is the same sample that…
