RIS-Enabled UAV Communications and Sensing: Opportunities, Challenges, and Key Technologies
Yajun Zhao, Mengnan Jian, Yifei Yuan
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) play a pivotal role in the emerging low-altitude economy. However, they face significant challenges in achieving reliable network coverage during tr…
Joint Size and Placement Optimization for IRS-Aided Communications with Active and Passive Elements
Qiaoyan Peng, Qingqing Wu, Wen Chen +6
Different types of intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) are exploited for assisting wireless communications. The joint use of passive IRS (PIRS) and active IRS (AIRS) emerges as a…
Beamforming Design for Intelligent Reffecting Surface Aided Near-Field THz Communications
Chi Qiu, Qingqing Wu, Wen Chen +4
Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) operating in the terahertz (THz) band has recently gained considerable interest due to its high spectrum bandwidth. Due to the exploitation of…
Intelligent Reflecting Surface Aided MIMO Networks: Distributed or Centralized Architecture?
Guangji Chen, Qingqing Wu, Wen Chen +4
We investigate the capacity of a broadcast channel with a multi-antenna base station (BS) sending independent messages to multiple users, aided by IRSs with N elements. In particul…
