Linear motion (R-FLEX) for minature 6.2 mm pitch optical fiber position robots with polar (R-theta) kinematics
Nicholas R. Wenner, Joseph H. Silber, Michael S. Schubnell +4
R-FLEX is a compact, low-part-count flexure-based radial positioning mechanism designed for the next generation of massively parallel fiber-fed spectroscopic telescope instruments.…
Prototyping of 6.2-mm-Pitch Fiber Positioner Modules for Stage-V Telescope Instrumentation
Malak Galal, Maxime Rombach, Jonathan Wei +18
Small-pitch populated focal planes are essential enabling technologies for the next generation of highly multiplexed astronomical instruments. As modern astrophysics relies on mass…
Investigations on assembly and coverage for modular focal planes of multiplexed telescopes
Maxime Rombach, Xiangyu Xu, Ricardo Araujo +7
Multiplexed surveys have the ambition to grow larger for the next generation of focal plane instruments. Future projects such as Spec-S5, MUST, and WST have an ever-growing need fo…
Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in the Lyα forest of BOSS DR11 quasars
Timothée Delubac, Julian E. Bautista, Nicolás G. Busca +35
We report a detection of the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) feature in the flux-correlation function of the Lyα forest of high-redshift quasars with a statistical significance o…
