MUSEQuBES: Probing Anisotropies in Gas and Metal Distributions in the Circumgalactic Medium
Sayak Dutta, Sowgat Muzahid, Joop Schaye +9
We investigate the azimuthal dependence of HI and OVI-bearing gas in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of 113 isolated galaxies in the redshift range , including 91 new…
MUSEQuBES: The Column Density, Covering Fraction, Mass, and Environmental Dependence of Cool HI Gas Around Low-Redshift Galaxies
Sayak Dutta, Sowgat Muzahid, Joop Schaye +6
We investigate cool HI gas traced by Lyman series absorption around 256 galaxies at z ~ 0.48 (median stellar mass, log10(M*/Msun) = 8.7) using 15 background quasars (median impact…
Lyman Limit System with O VI in the Circumgalactic Environment of a Pair of Galaxies
Dheerajkumar Khonde, Purvi Udhwani, Anand Narayanan +3
We report on the analysis of a multiphase Lyman limit system (LLS) at identified towards the background quasar FBQS J0209-0438. The O VI doublet lines associated with t…
An HST/COS legacy survey of high-velocity ultraviolet absorption in the Milky Way's circumgalactic medium and the Local Group
P. Richter, S. E. Nuza, A. J. Fox +9
To characterize the absorption properties of this circumgalactic medium (CGM) and its relation to the LG we present the so-far largest survey of metal absorption in Galactic high-v…
