Integrating Gyrokinetic Flux Predictions with Ideal MHD Stability Boundaries
J. McClenaghan, K. E. Thome, T. F. Neiser +5
Accurate prediction of pedestal height and width in tokamaks remains a critical issue as it strongly influences the predicted plasma performance of all future reactors. We present…
Characterizing the negative triangularity reactor core operating space with integrated modeling
H. S. Wilson, A. O. Nelson, J. McClenaghan +3
NT experiments have demonstrated core performance on par with positive triangularity (PT) H-mode without edge-localized modes (ELMs), encouraging further study of an NT reactor cor…
Kinetic-Ballooning-Limited Pedestals in Spherical Tokamak Plasmas
J. F. Parisi, W. Guttenfelder, A. O. Nelson +12
A theoretical model is presented that for the first time matches experimental measurements of the pedestal width-height Diallo scaling in the low-aspect-ratio high- tokamak NSTX…
Verification and validation of gyrokinetic and kinetic-MHD simulations for internal kink instability in DIII-D tokamak
G. Brochard, J. Bao, C. Liu +14
Verification and validation of the internal kink instability in tokamak have been performed for both gyrokinetic (GTC) and kinetic-MHD codes (GAM-solver, M3D-C1-K, NOVA, XTOR-K). U…
