A Multivariable Approach to the Regional Calibration of the Galvez Davison Index across Mexico Climate Regimes
Mauricio López-Reyes, Carlos Calvo-Sancho, Angel Meulenert +5
The Gálvez Davison Index (GDI) is a thermodynamic diagnostic designed to summarize convective favorability in the tropical regions, yet its transferability across complex terrain a…
Dynamic Forcing Behind Rapid Intensification of Hurricane Lidia
Mauricio López-Reyes, M. L. Martín-Pérez, C. Calvo-Sancho +1
This study examines Hurricane Lidia rapid intensification (RI) in the understudied northeastern Pacific, focusing on its interaction with an upper-level trough. Using IFS-ECMWF ens…
Effect of complex orography on numerical simulations of a downburst event in Spain
Javier Diaz Fernandez, Carlos Calvo-Sancho, Mauricio López-Reyes +4
Supercells, characterized by their deep, persistent mesocyclones, are among the most severe convective weather systems, often associated with large hail, damaging winds, and signif…
Remote Interactions between tropical cyclones: The case of Hurricane Michael and Leslie's high predictability uncertainty
Mauricio López-Reyes, J. J. González-Alemán, C. Calvo-Sancho +3
The study explores Hurricane Michael's impact on Hurricane Leslie's trajectory predictability using ECMWF and NCEP ensemble systems. A clustering method focused on tropical cyclone…
