Compact binary evolutions with the Z4c formulation
David Hilditch, Sebastiano Bernuzzi, Marcus Thierfelder +3
Numerical relativity simulations of compact binaries with the Z4c and BSSNOK formulations are compared. The Z4c formulation is advantageous in every case considered. In simulations…
Improved effective-one-body description of coalescing nonspinning black-hole binaries and its numerical-relativity completion
Thibault Damour, Alessandro Nagar, Sebastiano Bernuzzi
We improve the effective-one-body (EOB) description of nonspinning coalescing black hole binaries by incorporating several recent analytical advances, notably: (i) logarithmic cont…
Horizon-absorption effects in coalescing black-hole binaries: An effective-one-body study of the non-spinning case
Sebastiano Bernuzzi, Alessandro Nagar, Anil Zenginoglu
We study the horizon absorption of gravitational waves in coalescing, circularized, nonspinning black hole binaries. The horizon absorbed fluxes of a binary with a large mass ratio…
Tidal effects in binary neutron star coalescence
Sebastiano Bernuzzi, Alessandro Nagar, Marcus Thierfelder +1
We compare dynamics and waveforms from binary neutron star coalescence as computed by new long-term ( orbits) numerical relativity simulations and by the tidal effective-…
