Exploring correlated 1D Bose gases from the superfluid to the Mott-insulator state by inelastic light scattering
D. Clément, N. Fabbri, L. Fallani +2
We report the Bragg spectroscopy of interacting one-dimensional Bose gases loaded in optical lattices across the superfluid to Mott-insulator phase transition. Elementary excitatio…
Bose-Einstein condensates in disordered potentials
Leonardo Fallani, Chiara Fort, Massimo Inguscio
The interplay between disorder and interactions is a "leit-motiv" of condensed matter physics, since it constitutes the driving mechanism of the metal-insulator transition. Bose-Ei…
Anderson localization of a non-interacting Bose-Einstein condensate
G. Roati, C. D'Errico, L. Fallani +6
One of the most intriguing phenomena in physics is the localization of waves in disordered media. This phenomenon was originally predicted by Anderson, fifty years ago, in the cont…
Noise correlation spectroscopy of the broken order of a Mott insulating phase
V. Guarrera, N. Fabbri, L. Fallani +3
We use a two-color lattice to break the homogeneous site occupation of an atomic Mott Insulator of bosonic 87Rb. We detect the disruption of the ordered Mott domains via noise corr…
