A stellar stream around the spiral galaxy Messier 61 in Rubin First Look imaging
Aaron J. Romanowsky, David Martínez-Delgado, Giuseppe Donatiello +2
We present the first stellar stream discovered with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, around spiral galaxy M61 (NGC 4303) in Virgo First Look imaging. The stream is narrow, radially-o…
Testing the Bullet Dwarf Collision Scenario in the NGC 1052 Group Through Morphologies and Stellar Populations
Yimeng Tang, Aaron J. Romanowsky, Pieter G. van Dokkum +8
NGC 1052-DF2 and -DF4 are two ultra-diffuse galaxies that have been reported as deficient in dark matter and associated with the same galaxy group. Recent findings suggest that DF2…
SAUNAS II: Discovery of Cross-shaped X-ray Emission and a Rotating Circumnuclear Disk in the Supermassive S0 Galaxy NGC 5084
Alejandro S. Borlaff, Pamela M. Marcum, Pasquale Temi +11
Combining Chandra, ALMA, EVLA, and Hubble Space Telescope archival data and newly acquired APO/DIS spectroscopy, we detect a double-lobed 17~kpc X-ray emission with plumes oriented…
SAUNAS I: Searching for Low Surface Brightness X-ray Emission with Chandra/ACIS
Alejandro S. Borlaff, Pamela M. Marcum, Mehmet Alpaslan +8
We present SAUNAS (Selective Amplification of Ultra Noisy Astronomical Signal), a pipeline designed for detecting diffuse X-ray emission in the data obtained with the Advanced CCD…
