FIRST "Winged" and X-shaped Radio Source Candidates: II. New Redshifts
C. C. Cheung, Stephen E. Healey, Hermine Landt +2
We report optical spectroscopic observations of X-shaped radio sources with the Hobby-Eberly Telescope and Multiple-Mirror Telescope, focused on the sample of candidates from the F…
Measurements of Variability of Low Mass X-ray Binary Candidates in the Early-Type Galaxy NGC 4697 from Multi-Epoch Chandra X-ray Observations
Gregory R. Sivakoff, Andrés Jord'an, Adrienne M. Juett +2
Multi-epoch Chandra X-ray observations of nearby massive early-type galaxies open up the study of an important regime of low-mass X-ray binary (LMXB) behavior -- long term variabil…
Deep Chandra X-ray Observations of Low Mass X-ray Binary Candidates in the Early-Type Galaxy NGC 4697
Gregory R. Sivakoff, Andrés Jordán, Adrienne M. Juett +2
Chandra X-ray observations routinely resolve tens to hundreds of low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) per galaxy in nearby massive early-type galaxies. These studies have raised importa…
Evidence for Non-Hydrostatic Gas Motions in the Hot ISM of Centaurus A
R. P. Kraft, M. J. Hardcastle, G. R. Sivakoff +16
We present preliminary results from a deep (600 ks) {\em Chandra} observation of the hot interstellar medium of the nearby early-type galaxy Centaurus A (Cen A). We find a surface…
