Solar Wind Structures from the Gaussianity of Magnetic Magnitude
Zesen Huang, Chen Shi, Marco Velli +9
One of the primary science objectives of Parker Solar Probe (PSP) is to determine the structures and dynamics of the plasma and magnetic fields at the sources of the solar wind. Ho…
Electron resonant interaction with whistler-mode waves around the Earth's bow shock II: the mapping technique
David S. Tonoian, Xiaofei Shi, Anton V. Artemyev +2
Electron resonant scattering by high-frequency electromagnetic whistler-mode waves has been proposed as a mechanism for solar wind electron scattering and pre-acceleration to energ…
Electron resonant interaction with whistler-mode waves around the Earth's bow shock I: the probabilistic approach
Xiaofei Shi, David S. Tonoian, Anton V. Artemyev +2
Adiabatic heating of solar wind electrons at the Earth's bow shock and its foreshock region produces transversely anisotropic hot electrons that, in turn, generate intense high-fre…
Nonresonant scattering of energetic electrons by electromagnetic ion cyclotron waves: spacecraft observations and theoretical framework
Xin An, Anton Artemyev, Vassilis Angelopoulos +4
Electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves lead to rapid scattering of relativistic electrons in Earth's radiation belts, due to their large amplitudes relative to other waves that…
