Excitation of Inertial Modes in 3D Simulations of Rotating Convection in Planets and Stars
J. R. Fuentes, Ankit Barik, Jim Fuller
Thermal convection in rotating stars and planets drives anisotropic turbulence and differential rotation, both capable of feeding energy into global oscillations. Using 3D simulati…
Anomalously fast core and envelope rotation in red giants
Siddharth Dhanpal, Othman Benomar, Shravan Hanasoge +1
Red giants undergo dramatic and complex structural transformations as they evolve. Angular momentum is transported between the core and envelope during this epoch, a poorly underst…
Setting the Stage for Uranian Seismology from Rings and Radial Velocities
Christopher R. Mankovich, A. James Friedson, Marzia Parisi +6
A Uranus orbiter would be well positioned to detect the planet's free oscillation modes, whose frequencies can resolve questions about Uranus's weakly constrained interior. We calc…
Asteroseismology with TESS: Emergence of Dipole Mode Suppression From Subgiants?
Shurui Lin, Tanda Li, Shude Mao +1
Dipole mode suppression is an observed behavior of solar-like oscillations in evolved stars. This study aims to search for depressed dipole modes in giant stars using data from the…
