Deriving the Probabilistic Capacity of General Run-Length Sets Using Generating Functions
Georg Böcherer, Rudolf Mathar, Valdemar Cardoso da Rocha Junior +1
In "Reliable Communication in the Absence of a Common Clock" (Yeung et al., 2009), the authors introduce general run-length sets, which form a class of constrained systems that per…
On the Capacity of Constrained Systems
Georg Böcherer, Valdemar Cardoso da Rocha Junior, Cecilio Pimentel
In the first chapter of Shannon's "A Mathematical Theory of Communication," it is shown that the maximum entropy rate of an input process of a constrained system is limited by the…
Maximum Entropy Rate of Markov Sources for Systems With Non-regular Constraints
Georg Böcherer, Valdemar Cardoso da Rocha, Cecilio Pimentel
Using the concept of discrete noiseless channels, it was shown by Shannon in A Mathematical Theory of Communication that the ultimate performance of an encoder for a constrained sy…
Capacity of General Discrete Noiseless Channels
Georg Bocherer, Valdemar Cardoso da Rocha Junior, Cecilio Pimentel
This paper concerns the capacity of the discrete noiseless channel introduced by Shannon. A sufficient condition is given for the capacity to be well-defined. For a general discret…
