Millimeter-wave adaptive optics: Demonstrating closed-loop correction for lowest Zernike modes
Yoichi Tamura, Akio Taniguchi, Kotaro Iwakami +15
We report on a five-element prototype wavefront sensor for millimeter-wave adaptive optics (MAO), enabling closed-loop correction of tip-tilt and defocus via secondary mirror (M2)…
MORFEO: Advancing Towards Final Design
Lorenzo Busoni, Guido Agapito, Marco Bonaglia +106
The Multiconjugate adaptive Optics Relay For ELT Observations (MORFEO) is a first-generation adaptive optics module for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), designed to deliver a d…
Meta-heuristic design of a light-weight homologous backup structure of the primary reflector for the Large Submillimeter Telescope
Chihiro Imamura, Yoichi Tamura, Hiroaki Kawamura +3
The development of large-aperture submillimeter telescopes, such as the Large Submillimeter Telescope (LST) and the Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (AtLAST), is esse…
Wavefront sensor for millimeter/submillimeter-wave adaptive optics based on aperture-plane interferometry
Yoichi Tamura, Ryohei Kawabe, Yuhei Fukasaku +20
We present a concept of a millimeter wavefront sensor that allows real-time sensing of the surface of a ground-based millimeter/submillimeter telescope. It is becoming important fo…
