Solar abundances and helioseismology: fine structure spacings and separation ratios of low-degree p modes
Sarbani Basu, William J. Chaplin, Yvonne Elsworth +3
We have used 4752 days of data collected by the Birmingham Solar-Oscillations Network (BiSON) to determine very precise oscillation frequencies of acoustic low-degree modes that pr…
Sun-as-a-star observations: evidence for degree dependence of changes in damping of low-l p modes along the solar cycle
D. Salabert, W. J. Chaplin, Y. Elsworth +2
We use 9.5-yr of BiSON Sun-as-a-star data to search for dependence of solar-cycle parameter changes on the angular degree, l, of the data. The nature of the Sun-as-a-star observati…
Frequency, splitting, linewidth and amplitude estimates of low-l p modes of alpha Cen A: analysis of WIRE photometry
S. T. Fletcher, W. J. Chaplin, Y. Elsworth +2
We present results of fitting the 50-day time series of photometry of alpha Cen A taken by the WIRE satellite in 1999. Both power spectrum and autocovariance function (ACF) fitting…
solarFLAG hare and hounds: on the extraction of rotational p-mode splittings from seismic, Sun-as-a-star data
W. J. Chaplin, T. Appourchaux, F. Baudin +18
We report on results from the first solar Fitting at Low-Angular degree Group (solar FLAG) hare-and-hounds exercise. The group is concerned with the development of methods for extr…
