Discovery, Characterization, and Potential Origins of a Stream in the Stellar Halo of Nearby LMC-Mass Galaxy NGC 55
Benjamin N. Velguth, Burçin Mutlu-Pakdil, Erik Tollerud +33
We present a previously undetected stellar stream in the halo of the LMC-mass dwarf galaxy NGC 55 (2 Mpc), as part of an ongoing effort to characterize the stellar halos of LMC/SMC…
Unveiling the purely young star formation history of the SMC's northeastern shell from colour-magnitude diagram fitting
Joanna D. Sakowska, Noelia E. D. Noël, Tomás Ruiz-Lara +12
We obtain a quantitative star formation history (SFH) of a shell-like structure ('shell') located in the northeastern part of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). We use the Survey of…
Six More Ultra-Faint Milky Way Companions Discovered in the DECam Local Volume Exploration Survey
W. Cerny, C. E. Martínez-Vázquez, A. Drlica-Wagner +28
We report the discovery of six ultra-faint Milky Way satellites discovered through matched-filter searches conducted using Dark Energy Camera (DECam) data processed as part of the…
The globular clusters and star formation history of the isolated, quiescent ultra-diffuse galaxy DGSAT I
Steven R. Janssens, Aaron J. Romanowsky, Roberto Abraham +6
We investigate the isolated, quiescent ultra-diffuse galaxy (UDG) DGSAT I and its globular cluster (GC) system using two orbits of Hubble Space Telescope Advanced Camera for Survey…
