Simulations of Dust Content and Attenuation in Galaxies
Dhruv T. Zimmerman, Jed McKinney, Desika Narayanan +10
Correctly modeling the dust attenuation law in galaxies is essential to properly inferring their growth and physical properties. With the rapid discovery of galaxies by JWST…
Unveiling the Origins of the Molecular Gas Reservoirs in Recently Quenched Massive Galaxies
E. Savitch, D. Narayanan, D. J. Setton +13
Observations of quenched galaxies across cosmic time have revealed systems containing substantial molecular gas reservoirs, challenging the traditional picture of gas-poor, red and…
The Lifecycle and Emission Properties of PAHs in Cosmological Hydrodynamic Galaxy Formation Simulations
Desika Narayanan, Paul Torrey, Massimiliano Parente +16
We present the first cosmological model for the lifecycle and luminous properties of PAHs in galaxies as they evolve from z=6-->0. We model 40 zoom-in galaxies, coupled with an on-…
The Growth of Dust in Galaxies in the First Billion Years with Applications to Blue Monsters
Desika Narayanan, Paul Torrey, Daniel Stark +9
A combination of JWST observations at z~12-14 and ALMA observations of extremely dust-rich systems at z~6 has demonstrated that dust grows extremely fast in the early Universe, wit…
