Coherent versus stochastic error injection on a repetition-code logical qubit in superconducting hardware
S. L. M. van der Meer, M. Serra-Peralta, Y. Xin +5
The performance of quantum error correction (QEC) codes is limited by the underlying physical noise. Theoretical studies show that coherent and stochastic noise have different effe…
Improved error correction with leakage reduction units built into qubit measurement in a superconducting quantum processor
Yuejie Xin, Sean L. M. van der Meer, Marc Serra-Peralta +5
Leakage to non-computational states is a source of correlated errors in both time and space that limits the effectiveness of quantum error correction (QEC) with superconducting cir…
Decoding across transversal Clifford gates in the surface code
Marc Serra-Peralta, Mackenzie H. Shaw, Barbara M. Terhal
Transversal logical gates offer the opportunity for fast and low-noise logic, particularly when interspersed by a single round of parity check measurements of the underlying code.…
Neural network decoder for near-term surface-code experiments
Boris M. Varbanov, Marc Serra-Peralta, David Byfield +1
Neural-network decoders can achieve a lower logical error rate compared to conventional decoders, like minimum-weight perfect matching, when decoding the surface code. Furthermore,…
