Simulation-Based Pretraining and Domain Adaptation for Astronomical Time Series with Minimal Labeled Data
Rithwik Gupta, Daniel Muthukrishna, Jeroen Audenaert
Astronomical time-series analysis faces a critical limitation: the scarcity of labeled observational data. We present a pre-training approach that leverages simulations, significan…
MANGOS II: Five new giant planets orbiting low-mass stars
G. Dransfield, M. Timmermans, D. Sebastian +47
Giant planets orbiting low-mass stars on short orbits present a conundrum, as in the most extreme cases their existence cannot be reconciled with current models of core accretion.…
Causal Foundation Models: Disentangling Physics from Instrument Properties
Jeroen Audenaert, Daniel Muthukrishna, Paul F. Gregory +2
Foundation models for structured time series data must contend with a fundamental challenge: observations often conflate the true underlying physical phenomena with systematic dist…
A Disintegrating Rocky Planet with Prominent Comet-like Tails Around a Bright Star
Marc Hon, Saul Rappaport, Avi Shporer +21
We report the discovery of BD+054868Ab, a transiting exoplanet orbiting a bright () K-dwarf (TIC 466376085) with a period of 1.27 days. Observations from NASA's Tr…
