Comparing galaxy merger orbits in hydrodynamical simulation and in dark-matter-only simulation
Yahan Pu, Lan Wang, Guangquan Zeng +1
To investigate how the presence of baryons in simulations affects galaxy merger orbits, we compare in detail the merger timescales and orbits of the matched merger pairs in TNG100…
The impact of cosmic filaments on the abundance of satellite galaxies
Yuxi Meng, Haonan Zheng, Shihong Liao +9
The impact of cosmic web environments on galaxy properties plays a critical role in understanding galaxy formation. Using the state-of-the-art cosmological simulation IllustrisTNG,…
Misaligned external gas acquisition boosts central black hole activities
Yuren Zhou, Yanmei Chen, Yong Shi +6
One important question in active galactic nucleus (AGN) is how gas is brought down to the galaxy center. Both internal secular evolution (torque induced by non-axisymmetric galacti…
A Dual Active Black Hole Candidate with Mass Ratio ~7:1 in a Disk Galaxy
Xiao Cao, Yan-Mei Chen, Yong Shi +8
Dual active galactic nuclei (AGNs) with comparable masses are commonly witnessed among the major merged galaxies with interaction remnants. Considering almost every massive galaxy…
