Interlacing of zeros from different sequences of Meixner-Pollaczek, Pseudo-Jacobi and Continuous Hahn polynomials

Aletta Jooste, Kerstin Jordaan

In this paper we consider interlacing of the zeros of polynomials from different sequences ${p_{n}}$ and ${g_{n}}$ . In our main result we consider a mixed recurrence equation neces…

On zeros of quasi-orthogonal Meixner polynomials

A. S. Jooste, K. Jordaan

For each fixed value of $β$ in the range $- 2 < β < - 1$ and $0 < c < 1$ , we investigate interlacing properties of the zeros of polynomials of consecutive degree for $M_{n} (x; β, c)$ and $M_k(…

Recurrence equations involving different orthogonal polynomial sequences and applications

A. S. Jooste, D. D. Tcheutia, W. Koepf

Consider ${p_{n}}_{n = 0}^{\infty}$ , a sequence of polynomials orthogonal with respect to $w (x) > 0$ on $(a, b)$ , and polynomials ${g_{n, k}}_{n = 0}^{\infty}, k \in N_{0}$ , orthog…

Quasi-Orthogonality of Some Hypergeometric and $q$ -Hypergeometric Polynomials

Daniel D. Tcheutia, Alta S. Jooste, Wolfram Koepf

We show how to obtain linear combinations of polynomials in an orthogonal sequence ${P_{n}}_{n \geq 0}$ , such as $Q_{n, k} (x) = i = 0 \sum k a_{n, i} P_{n - i} (x)$ , $a_{n,0}a_{n,k}\…

Zeros of Meixner and Krawtchouk polynomials

A Jooste, K Jordaan, F Tookos

We investigate the zeros of a family of hypergeometric polynomials $_{2} F_{1} (- n, - x; a; t)$ , $n\in\nn$ that are known as the Meixner polynomials for certain values of the parameters $a$ …
