The Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS). XL. The Morphological Classification of Virgo Cluster Galaxies
Max M. Kurzner, Patrick Côté, Laura Ferrarese +19
We present a study of morphologies, based on deep imaging of the Virgo Cluster from the Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS), for 3689…
Dwarf galaxies in the MATLAS Survey: Hubble Space Telescope observations of nuclear star clusters
Mélina Poulain, Francine R. Marleau, Pierre-Alain Duc +8
In dwarf galaxies, nuclear star clusters (NSCs) are believed to primarily form from the migration and merger of globular clusters (GCs), with a possible contribution from in-situ s…
AVID: Formation and evolution of a coalesced major merger of late-type dwarf galaxies (VCC 479) on the outskirts of the Virgo cluster
Weibin Sun, Hong-Xin Zhang, Rory Smith +24
Dwarf-dwarf galaxy mergers are among the least explored aspects of dwarf galaxy pre-processing as they fall into clusters. We present the first case study of a coalesced late-type…
A Virgo Environmental Survey Tracing Ionised Gas Emission (VESTIGE).IV. A tail of Ionised Gas in the Merger Remnant NGC 4424
A. Boselli, M. Fossati, G. Consolandi +31
We have observed the late-type peculiar galaxy NGC 4424 during VESTIGE, a blind narrow-band Halpha[NII] imaging survey of the Virgo cluster carried out with MegaCam at the CFHT. Th…
