Discovery and Analysis of a Type II Supernova Candidate at z = 3.19 from JWST's COSMOS-Web Survey
Valeria Aparicio, David O. Jones, Willem B. Hoogendam +21
The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has enabled the discovery of a small but increasing sample of high-redshift core-collapse supernovae (CC SNe), which provide new…
Expanding the High-z Supernova Frontier: "Wide-Area" JWST Discoveries from the First Two Years of COSMOS-Web
Ori D. Fox, Armin Rest, Justin D. R. Pierel +48
Transient astronomy in the early Universe (z > 2) remains largely unexplored, lying beyond the rest-frame optical spectroscopic reach of most current observatories. Yet this regime…
JWST Discovery of a High-Redshift Tidal Disruption Event Candidate in COSMOS-Web
Mitchell Karmen, Suvi Gezari, Erini Lambrides +26
The rates and properties of tidal disruption events (TDEs) provide valuable insights into their host galaxy central stellar densities and the demographics of their central supermas…
The case for super-Eddington accretion in JWST broad-line AGN during the first billion years
Erini Lambrides, Rebecca Larson, Kristen Garofali +23
A multitude of JWST studies reveal a surprising over-abundance of over-massive accreting super-massive black holes (SMBHs) -- leading to a deepening tension between theory and obse…
