Experiments conducted in the burning plasma regime with inertial fusion implosions
J. S. Ross, J. E. Ralph, A. B. Zylstra +149
An experimental program is currently underway at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) to compress deuterium and tritium (DT) fuel to densities and temperatures sufficient to achiev…
Predominant Contribution of Direct Laser Acceleration to High-Energy Electron Spectra in a Low-Density Self-Modulated Laser Wakefield Accelerator
P. M. King, K. Miller, N. Lemos +12
The two-temperature relativistic electron spectrum from a low-density (~cm) self-modulated laser wakefield accelerator (SM-LWFA) is observed to transition be…
Effect of Laser-Plasma Interactions on Inertial Fusion Hydrodynamics
D. J. Strozzi, D. S. Bailey, P. Michel +7
The effects of laser-plasma interactions (LPI) on the dynamics of inertial confinement fusion hohlraums is investigated via a new approach that self-consistently couples reduced LP…
Raman backscatter as a remote laser power sensor in high-energy-density plasmas
J. D. Moody, D. J. Strozzi, L. Divol +11
Stimulated Raman backscatter (SRS) is used as a remote sensor to quantify the instantaneous laser power after transfer from outer to inner cones that cross in a National Ignition F…
