Determining the cosmological parameters from the linewidths of active galaxies
C. M. Rudge, D. J. Raine
We have previously shown that the linewidth distribution in AGN can be accounted for by an axisymmetric broad emission line region. In this paper we show that the linewidth distrib…
Line Width and Spectral Index Distributions as Evidence for Axisymmetry in the Broad Line Regions of Active Galaxies
C. M. Rudge, D. J. Raine
We propose that the scatter in line width versus luminosity of the BLR of AGN arises from a dependence on the line of sight to an axially symmetric BLR. Adopting a simple model for…
Line width distributions as evidence for axisymmetry in the broad line regions of active galaxies
C. M. Rudge, D. J. Raine
The nuclei of a wide class of active galaxies emit broad emission lines with widths at half maximum (FWHM) in the range km s. This spread of widths is not so…
NGC 4151 - A unified active galactic nucleus
I Cassidy, D. J. Raine
We present a unified picture of active galactic nuclei which we construct from a detailed model of line emission in the active source in NGC 4151. In this scheme NGC 4151 can be re…
The Broad Line Regions of NGC 4151
I. Cassidy, D. J. Raine
We compute the line strengths and profiles from a model of the cloud dynamics of the broad and intermediate line regions and compare the results with the observations of the Seyfer…
